Aasa Feragen
Updated: Oct 7

Professor at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at the Technical University of Denmark, DTU.
Aasa Feragen is Professor at the Technical University of Denmark. Her MSc and PhD in mathematics are both from the University of Helsinki, following which she held postdocs at the University of Copenhagen, and the MPI for Intelligent Systems in Tübingen. Aasa's research sits at the intersection of machine learning, mathematics, and medical imaging with a particular focus on bringing responsible AI tools to practical use, including uncertainty quantification, explainable AI and algorithmic fairness. In recent years, Aasa has helped build a Danish cross-university research group specializing in AI for fetal ultrasound, which — in addition to research — led to the foundation of Prenaital, a spinout company whose mission is to provide every woman with best-in-class prenatal care by using AI to support clinicians, regardless of their experience level, in making the best possible clinical assessments.
Abstract
Is it Responsible to do Responsible AI in such Irresponsible Times
While most of this talk will delve into technical challenges related to responsible AI topics such as explainability, uncertainty quantification or algorithmic fairness, we will towards the end move to discuss the more open ended question of whether doing "Responsible AI" is currently the responsible thing to do? Please bring your curiosity.
